Wildcats Win Finale Over Utes, 8-7

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (34-17, 16-11) salvaged their series with an 8-7 win in the finale against the Utah Utes (20-26, 7-20) on Sunday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field.

Arizona's Senior Day victory secured a winning record in their first season in the Big 12, and kept them in the race for a top four seed and a first round bye in the Big 12 Baseball Championship in two weeks.

Maddox Mihalakis (4x4), Brendan Summerhill (3x5), Mason White (3x4), Adonys Guzman (2x3), Andrew Cain (2x5), and Easton Breyfogle (2x4) all recorded multiple hits as part of Arizona's 16-hit breakout. The Wildcats also pulled in eight walks and struck out just seven times.

White hit his 41st career home run in the fourth inning and is now just two shy of moving into a tie for second in program history.

Starting pitcher Smith Bailey issued one of his best outings of the season, working six innings and allowing just four runs on six hits while striking out six. The freshman did not issue a walk and threw 96 pitches (62 strikes) but did not factor into the decision.
