TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona throwers wrap up the regular season at the Tucson Throws Elite Classic on May 22-24 at Drachman Stadium.
 
The Tucson Throws Elite Classic is scheduled to begin on Thursday and will continue on Saturday morning as needed. The meet includes only throwing events: the hammer, discus, shot put, and javelin. The action will open at 3:00 p.m. MST on Thursday. Saturday's events will start at 10:00 a.m. MST if necessary. This competition is separate from the USATF Throws Festival, which will open on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. MST. Live results can be found here.

On the heels of an outstanding throwing performance at the Big 12 Championships, the Wildcats wrap up the regular season in the Tucson Throws Elite Classic on May 22-24 at Drachman Stadium. The men's throws group accounted for 29 of the 48 total points at the Big 12 Championships. On the women's side, the team accounted for 21 of the 46 points at the Conference Championship.
 
Arizona's men's shot put is ranked No. 2 in the nation, and the men's discus is ranked No. 5 in the country entering this weekend's event. Zach Landa earned three podium finishes in the shot put (3rd), discus (4th), and hammer (8th) at the Big 12 Championships.
 
Youssef Koudssi (2nd) and Sam Hala'ufia (5th) finished on the podium in the discus, helping the Wildcats earn three podium spots in the event.
 
Jesse Avina earned a podium finish in 4th place in the javelin on day one of the Big 12 Championships.

One of the top performances for the women's throws team at the Big 12 Championships was Erin Tack finishing 2nd in the javelin with a program record (54.37m/178-4).
 
Mackenna Orie had an outstanding showing at the Big 12 Championships, landing on the podium in the shot put (4th), discus (8th), and hammer (8th).
 
Tapenisa Havea earned two podium finishes at the Big 12 Championships, after finishing 6th in the shot put and 7th in the discus.
