Pluta, White Nab D1Baseball All-America Selections

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball standouts Tony Pluta and Mason White were selected to D1Baseball's Second and Third Team All-America squads, respectively, the publication announced today.

Pluta has now been selected as an All-American by every major national college baseball outlet and organization, with all of his honors being first or second team. Today's announcement marks the second All-America selection for White, who was also tabbed to Perfect Game's second team.

This marks just the third time that multiple Wildcats have earned All-America recognition from D1Baseball; Jacob Berry and Daniel Susac earned the honors in 2021, while Scott Kingery and Kevin Newman pulled in selections in 2015.

Pluta, a right-handed pitcher, authored one of the best seasons of relief pitching in Arizona Baseball history this spring. His 14 saves set the program's single-season record, paced the Big 12 Conference, and ranked tied for fourth most among all Division I pitchers. Pluta made 30 appearances and covered 37 innings while posting a 1.46 ERA; he allowed runs in just three outings and surrendered multiple earned runs only once. The Illinois native limited opposing hitters to a .219 batting average and logged an impressive 0.95 WHIP.

White, a Tucson native and the Wildcats everyday shortstop, concluded his junior season with a career-high 20 home runs. The prodigious slugger etched his name into the Arizona Baseball record books this year and throughout his Wildcat career; White's 49 career home runs are second most in program history, while his 111 extra-base hits are second to none. Across 65 games this season White hit .327 with 63 runs scored, 17 doubles, eight triples, 20 home runs, and 73 RBI, all career-high marks with the exception of doubles. His bat, while critical to Arizona's success all season, particularly came to life in the postseason — across 11 games he hit .395 with 17 runs, two doubles, one triple, seven home runs, and 14 RBI.
