TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Women's Basketball and head coach Becky Burke will be part of this year's Red-Blue Showcase presented by First Watch, which starts at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, inside McKale Center. In addition to interacting with fans, select Wildcats will compete in the 3-point shooting contest during the event.
Tickets are available online at ArizonaWildcats.com/MBK or by calling the McKale Center Ticket Office at 520-621-CATS.
Fans are encouraged to attend the Post/Move concert on Bear Down Field following the showcase. The concert will feature DJ Diesel - also known as Shaquille O'Neal, legendary DJ Mix Master Mike, Myles O'Neal and Arizona men's basketball head coach Tommy Lloyd - aka "DJ Tomm-e". Tickets for the concert are also available at
ArizonaWildcats.com/MBK.
The showcase, which will be streamed live on ESPN+, gives fans their first glimpse at a 13-woman roster that features 12 newcomers and one returner in Montaya Dew, under the direction of first-year head coach Becky Burke. While the roster is largely new, the Wildcats carry a core of veteran leadership with seven upperclassmen, including three fifth years.
The group includes Tucson native Achol Magot (Texas Tech) and Freddie Wallace (Kansas), both bringing Big 12 experience, as well as Mickey Perdue, the Horizon League Player of the Year, and Sumayah Sugapong, the Big West Championship Most Outstanding Player. Sugapong, a transfer from UC San Diego, also represented the Philippines in the FIBA Women's Asia Cup in China, while freshman Mireia Jurado competed internationally for Spain in the FIBA U18 Women's Eurobasket.
"Our program is excited to be part of the Red-Blue Showcase this year," said Burke. "It's a fun way for our players to connect with the community, show off their shooting, and give everyone a glimpse of the energy and identity we're building together. I really appreciate Coach Lloyd and his staff for welcoming our program into such a meaningful tradition for Arizona Basketball."
