Arizona Men’s Basketball Promotes Manning to Assistant Coach; Torres Returns as Director of Basketball Operations

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona men's basketball head coach Tommy Lloyd announced the promotion of Evan Manning to assistant coach and former graduate assistant, Austin Torres, is returning to the staff as Director of Basketball Operations.  
 
Manning has served as the Director of Operations for the last two years, assisting with all day-to-day operations within the program. As an assistant coach, Manning will assist with on-court coaching, player development and scouting reports.  
 
Prior to joining Lloyd's staff, Manning was an assistant coach at Army-West Point under head coach Jimmy Allen for one season, where he coached Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Ethan Roberts, and first team all-conference honoree Jalen Rucker. 
 
Manning served as a graduate assistant at Gonzaga for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, which included a trip to the national championship game in 2021 and the Sweet 16 in 2022. From 2017-20, Manning was the Director of Player Development at Wake Forest alongside his father, Danny, who was the head coach. 
 
As an undergraduate at Kansas, he was a walk-on with the men's basketball program for four years and helped the Jayhawks win four regular season titles and two conference tournament crowns. He earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Management from the University of Kansas in 2016. 
 
Torres returns to Lloyd's staff after a year away from the program as an assistant coach at Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale. Prior to that, Torres was a graduate assistant for two seasons with the Wildcats after having been an undergraduate manager for two seasons. 
 
A Tucson native, Torres earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona in finance, MIS and a sports management certificate in 2022 and received his graduate degree from U of A in Finance in 2024.
