TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona baseball player Tony Pluta collected another preseason accolade Tuesday, as he was named a Preseason First Team All-American by D1Baseball, the organization announced. 

It is Pluta's second preseason First Team All-America honor ahead of the 2026 season, as he also earned the recognition from Perfect Game. 

Pluta is coming off a sensational season in which he was named the NCBWA Stopper of the Year, in addition to earning consensus All-American honors.

Throughout the 2025 campaign, Pluta appeared in 30 games on the mound in relief, compiling an exceptional ERA of 1.46 and limiting opposing hitters to just .219 at the plate. Pluta helped lead Arizona to a Big 12 Tournament Championship and appearance in the 2025 College World Series after advancing through the NCAA Eugene Regional and the NCAA Chapel Hill Super Regional. 

Arizona opens the 2026 season against Stanford on Friday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. in Surprise, Arizona, as part of the 2026 College Baseball Series.
