Grace Jenkins drove in Arizona's first run of the game in the first inning with a single to shallow left field. In the bottom of the inning, the Broncos two runs on a bases-loaded walk and an RBI single to take a 2-1 lead.

Following a 45-minute weather delay, the Wildcats scored five runs in the top of the second inning before another rain delay. Kavanagh opened the inning with a solo home and Trice drove in a run with a single to left field. Biehl hit a two-run double and then scored on a wild pitch to give Arizona a 6-2 lead heading into the second weather delay.
