Wildcats Set Big 12 Record After Dominant Win Over Oklahoma State, 84-47

TUCSON, Ariz. - No.1  Arizona remained unbeaten and overwhelmed Oklahoma State from the opening stretch, rolling to an 84-47 victory Saturday afternoon at McKale Center. This win marked the best start by a Big 12 team in history, surpassing the 1996-97 Kansas Jayhawks, who started 22-0.

The Wildcats (23-0, 10-0 Big 12) used a suffocating defensive effort and relentless interior scoring to seize control early. After Oklahoma State briefly grabbed a two-point lead in the opening minutes, Arizona responded with a decisive run and never looked back. The Wildcats led 40-22 at halftime and stretched the margin to as many as 43 in the second half.

Arizona shot 52% from the field and dominated inside, scoring 54 points in the paint while out-rebounding the Cowboys 56-35. The Wildcats also turned second chances and transition opportunities into easy offense, finishing with 23 fast-break points and 15 second-chance points.

Brayden Burries led Arizona with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting, repeatedly finishing at the rim in transition. Jaden Bradley added 13 points and four assists, while Koa Peat contributed 11 points. Motiejus Krivas anchored the interior with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Tobe Awaka pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds to go with eight points.

Oklahoma State (16-7, 4-6) struggled to find an offensive rhythm against Arizona's length and pressure. The Cowboys shot just 24.6% from the field and 21.4% from 3-point range. Anthony Roy led Oklahoma State with 10 points, but no other player reached double figures.

Arizona's defense set the tone throughout, holding the Cowboys to 22 first-half points and contesting nearly every attempt at the rim. The Wildcats led for more than 36 minutes and never allowed Oklahoma State to mount a serious run.

With the win, Arizona stays perfect in conference play and continues to build momentum as the regular season moves into its final stretch.

The Wildcats take the floor next on Monday, Feb. 9, in Lawrence against No. 11 Kansas at 7:00 p.m. MST on ESPN.
