No. 12 Wildcats Drop Doubleheader, Series to No. 2 Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 12 Arizona lost both games of the doubleheader to No. 2 Texas Tech to wrap up the series on Saturday afternoon.
 
Game 1 | No. 2 Texas Tech 14, No. 12 Arizona 6 (6 inn.)
Arizona lost the first game of the doubleheader to Texas Tech, 14-6, in six innings as the Red Raiders evened the series.
 
The Cats tallied eight hits to score six run and kept the game close until Texas Tech took the lead in the fourth inning. Sydney Stewart homered twice and drove in three runs to lead the Arizona offense.
 
The Wildcats struck first with a pair of runs in the first inning. Regan Shockey singled and Sydney Stewart hit a two-out two-run home run to put Arizona on the board.
 
In the bottom of the inning, Texas Tech hit a solo home run to make it a 2-1 game.
 
Arizona used another home run in the second inning to take a 5-1 lead over Texas Tech. With two runners on, Addison Duke hit her second home run of the season – and second career homer – to extend the lead for the Cats.
 
The Red Raiders took the lead after plating five runs in the bottom of the second. The first run came on a leadoff home run and then Texas Tech tied the game at 5-5 with a three-run home run. The Red Raiders took advantage of a passed ball and wild pitch to score their sixth run of the game to take the lead.
 
Sydney Stewart tied the game with a solo home run – her second homer of the game – to make it 6-6 in the third inning.
 
In the fourth, Texas Tech regained the lead and made it 11-6. The first run of the inning came across on an RBI double and then the Red Raiders used a two-run home run to extend their lead. Texas Tech brought home another run on an RBI single and took advantage of a throwing error to score the fifth run of the inning.
 
The Red Raiders added two runs in the fifth on a single to center field and Texas Tech walked off the game with a solo home run in the sixth inning.
 
Jalen Adams picked up the loss to fall to 12-4 on the season after pitching 3.2 innings in relief and giving up the game-winning run. Rylie Holder started the game and pitched the first inning, giving up six runs on four hits. Jenae Berry entered in the fifth and allowed one run on two hits.

Arizona lost the series against Texas tech after dropping the third game of the series, 8-0, in five innings.
 
The Wildcats were limited to two hits while the Red Raiders scored eight runs on seven hits.
 
Texas Tech struck first with three runs in the second inning. The Red Raiders all of their runs on RBI singles in the inning.
 
The Red Raiders plated two more runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. An RBI single brought home the first run. When Stewart caught a runner stealing at second, the second run of the inning for Texas Tech came home.
 
In the fourth, Texas Tech hit a three-run home run to extend their lead to 8-0.
 
Holder picked up the loss after tossing the first three innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits. Berry entered in relief in the fourth and allowed three runs on one hit before Sarah Wright entered to face the final three batters of the inning.
