No. 11 Wildcats Walk Off Sun Devils, Even Series

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 11 Arizona won the second game of the series against Arizona State, 9-8, on a walk-off single from Regan Shockey on Saturday night at Hillenbrand Stadium.
 
Arizona scored nine runs on 13 hits and Kez Lucas led the team at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Shockey hit the game-winning single on a slap hit through the left side.
 
The Cats jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning. Lucas put Arizona on the board with a two-RBI double and Jenna Sniffen drove in the third run of the game with an RBI groundout.
 
In the third, Arizona plated five runs to take an 8-0 lead over ASU. Sereniti Trice scored on a throwing error by the Sun Devils and then Tayler Biehl scored on a passed ball to bring in the first two runs for the Cats. Lucas recorded her second hit of the game – a single through the left side – to bring in another run. Addison Duke rounded out the inning with a two-run double to extend Arizona's lead.
 
ASU scored five runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to bring the game within one run. The Sun Devils scored their five runs in the fourth inning on an RBI single, a three-run home run, and an RBI groundout. In the fifth, ASU scored on a fielding error and an RBI single to cut Arizona's lead to one run at 8-7.
 
The Sun Devils tied the game at 8-8 with a solo home run in the sixth inning.
 
With three runners on base and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Shockey singled the third base to walk off the Sun Devils and even the series.
 
Rylie Holder earned the win to improve to 8-3 after pitching 3.2 innings in relief. She allowed three runs on four hits and struck out two batters. Jalen Adams got the start in the circle, tossing 3.1 innings and allowed five runs on five hits with one strikeout.
