TUCSON, Ariz.– Arizona battled hard at Day 1 of the Big 12 Preview but ended up falling short in both matches. The Cats lost a hard-fought duel against Boise State losing 2-3. The Cats then fell short to No. 5 Florida State 1-4 to wrap up day 1.

Sophia Winter and
Brooke Boyko got the weekend started for Arizona picking up their match in straight sets, 21-17, 21-18 and giving Arizona the early 1-0 lead over the Broncos.
Sadie Moore and
Adriana Nieves Papaleo followed with a hard-fought three set match dropping set one 17-21 before taking set two 21-15. The #4 pair fought hard in set three but came up short dropping the set 13-15, evening up the duel at 1-1.
Meghan O'Meara and
Jamie Streit were next to finish but came up short for the Cats dropping their match in straight-sets, 15-21, 16-21, giving Boise State a 2-1 lead in the duel.
Regan Holmer and
Carlie Cisneros also came up short for Arizona dropping their match in two sets, 13-21, 18-21, giving Boise State the clinching point of the duel and extending their lead to 3-1.
Ashlyn Zilliken and
Madeline Walker were able to come out on top in their three-set match, 15-21, 21-19, 15-9, to wrap up the duel with a final score of 3-2 in favor of Boise State.

Sophia Winter and
Jamie Streit were the first to finish in the duel against the Seminoles. The pair came up short in two sets, 11-21, 14-21, to give FSU a 1-0 lead.
Sadie Moore and
Brooke Boyko fought hard through a three-set match, dropping set one, 21-12 and picking up a tight set 2, 21-19. The #5 pair fought hard in the third set but came up short 12-15, giving the Seminoles a 2-0 lead.
Meghan O'Meara and
Adriana Nieves Papaleo got beaten in straight-sets, 8-21, 9-21, giving FSU the clinching point of the duel.
Regan Holmer and
Carlie Cisneros played a tight match, dropping set one, 22-24 and set two, 19-21, to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Seminoles.
Ashlyn Zilliken and
Madeline Walker were the last to finish up on day 1. The #2 pair battled back after dopping set one and got the win in three sets,16-21, 21-19, 15-13, giving Florida State the 4-1 win.
Arizona will face No. 11 Arizona State tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. CT as the Cats look to bounce back after an 0-2 Day 1.
