Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Arizona baseball team fell to UCF 13-3 in eight innings on Saturday night.
The Wildcats (9-17, 2-6) had three hits while the Knights (17-8, 7-1) collected 17 hits throughout the night.
Smith Bailey was charged with the loss on the mound and Mateo Gray earned the victory for UCF.
UCF struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first; but, the Wildcats responded in the second, as Carson McEntire hit a sacrifice fly to even the game at 1-1.
UCF scored another run in the bottom half of the frame, and Arizona once again had a response. In the top of the third, Andrew Cain launched a solo shot well over the wall in right field, tying the game at two runs apiece.Â
The Knights scored two runs in the fourth and three in the sixth, as they built a 7-2 advantage entering the eighth. The Wildcats tacked on a run in the top of the eighth; but, UCF scored six runs in the bottom of the inning to earn the 13-3 win over Arizona.
The two squads will return to John Euliano Park on Sunday at 10 a.m. (MST) for the series finale.
