Carlos Armijo joined the Arizona softball staff in the fall of 2019, serving as the volunteer assistant coach on head coach Mike Candrea's staff. Armijo is an accomplished fast pitch player and an experienced club and high school coach.
Armijo competes in both the International Softball Congress and North American Fastpitch Association. In 2008, Armijo won the NAFA 23-U World Championship and was a USA National 18-U selection in 2004.
Armijo began his coaching career at Pueblo High School, where he was an assistant coach in 2012 and 2013.
He comes to Arizona after serving as an assistant coach at Empire High School from 2014 and an assistant coach for the 18U Arizona Thundercats. At Empire, Armijo helped lead the Ravens to state titles in 2014 and 2017 and a Sonoran Region Championship in 2019.
In addition to his softball pedigree, Armijo is a member of the Arizona National Guard and has worked as a production controller since 2012.
Armijo graduated from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor of science in applied management and leadership.
