Career:

  • A career .280 hitter in 164 career appearances who registered many big at-bats in her career
  • Hit 10 career homers and drove in 62 runs in her career
  • Excelled in the classroom as well as on the field; she was Arizona’s first Academic All-American (2019) since 2010 and was a two-time first-team Pac-12 all-academic honoree

 
2019: Saw action in 33 games, including 25 starts as UA’s designated player … Hit a career-best .323, fifth best average on the team … Her .421 on-base percentage ranked fourth on the team … Appeared in eight games as a pinch hitter and hit .444, the best average as a pinch hitter on the team … Her biggest hit of the season was a two-run pinch-hit single vs. Auburn to break a scoreless tie in the fifth inning to lead Arizona to a 2-1 victory in the Tucson Regional (5/18) … Hit a career-most-tying four home runs and drove in 13 runs on the season … Named a second-team Google Cloud Academic All-American, Arizona’s first Academic All-American since 2010 … Also was first-team academic all-conference and all-region.
 
2018: Appeared in 17 games, including eight starts as UA’s designated player … Hit .125 in 24 at-bats … Drove in three runs on the season, including a two-run pinch-hit double vs. Colorado State (2/18) … Drew seven walks and was hit by a pitch, helping her to a .344 on-base percentage.
 
2017: Started 56 games as Arizona’s designated player … Hit .278 with eight doubles, a triple and two home runs … Batted in 22 runs and scored 20 of her own … Drew 26 walks while striking out just 11 times … Posted a .415 on-base percentage and a .405 slugging percentage … Hit two home runs, both off eventual WCWS ace pitchers: 3/14 vs. Oklahoma (Paige Parker) and 3/25 vs. Washington (Taran Alvelo) … Named CoSIDA Academic all-district as well as Pac-12 all-academic first team … Notched a career-high-tying three RBI vs. Utah (4/13/17) … Her 26 walks were fifth most on the team while the five HBPs were third most … Dropped down two sacrifice bunts, fifth most on the team … Had seven multi-hit games, giving her 14 for her career … Drove in multiple runs in six games, matching her total from 2016 … Was Arizona’s No. 7 hitter for most of the year (42 games) but batted sixth nine times and fifth six times.
 
2016: Started 55 games as Arizona’s designated player … Hit .289 with four home runs and 24 RBI … Hit the game-winning single to secure the Knoxville Regional Championship in the eighth inning vs. Tennessee … Had seven multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3 game vs. Houston (4/9), in which she homered and drove in two runs … Had six multi-RBI games, tied for fifth most on the team … Ranked fifth on the team in batting average (.289), on-base percentage (.395) and RBI (24) … Clouted seven doubles, tied for third most on the club … Drew 19 walks and was hit by eight pitches; her 19 walks were fourth on the club while her eight HBP were double any other player on the team … Dropped down three sac bunts and hit three sac flies, fifth and second on the team, respectively … Knoxville Regional: Second on the team with a .429 batting average … Drove in Nancy Bowling with an eighth-inning single in the championship game to help Arizona walk off with the regional title … Auburn Super Regional: Had three hits in 10 at-bats (.300), the third highest average on the team.
 
High School: A four-year letterwinner at Horizon H.S. under former Wildcat Jackie Coburn … Earned multiple high school All-America honors, including MaxPreps National Underclass All-America (2012, 13, 14), second-team Max Preps National All-American (2014, 15), first-team Full Count Softball All-American (2014, 15), FloSoftball All-American (2015) … American Family Insurance All-USA Softball Team (2014, 15) … Four-time all-state performer, including first-team selection in each of her final three seasons … Four-time team MVP and 2013 all-city MVP … All-city and all-region first-team all four years … 2013 Varsity Zone Female Athlete of the Year … 2013 Desert Mountain Tournament MVP … School’s female athlete of the year in 2015 … Named to FloSoftball Hot 100 in 2015 … Only athlete to earn Horizon H.S. Husky Award (MVP) in school history … First-team Arizona All-Academic and winner of Junior State of America Gavel Award … Went 25-8 with a 1.54 ERA as a senior while hitting .509 with 24 RBI … Drew 66 combined walks and HBPs while  striking out just nine times in her career, a school record … Also holds the school record for career wins (85), innings (753.2), shutouts (34), lowest ERA (1.77), career strikeouts (1,071) and perfect games (2) … Was also a golfer and helped lead team to four straight golf state tournaments.
 
Personal: Born Tamara Rose Birnholz Statman in July of 1997 to David and Maura Statman in San Diego, Calif. … Has one sister (Brenda) … Is a third degree black belt in Olympic style taekwondo … In her free time, enjoys making videos and writing blogs … Plans to major in political science with big aspirations, “who knows, maybe one day President of the United States. I want to make a positive difference in the world” … Chose Arizona over Auburn, Arizona State, Tennessee, Oregon, Missouri and Ole Miss because of the “great university, fantastic coach and coaching staff that will make me a better person along with a rich tradition I’d like to help carry on.”
