Arizona Falls to No. 18 ASU on Thursday

Box Score

TUCSON, Ariz.--- Senior guard Candice Warthen led the Wildcats in scoring for the ninth time this season, while junior guard Keyahndra Cannon shot 50 percent from the field, but it wasn't enough, as Arizona fell to No. 18 Arizona State, 88-41, Thursday night at McKale Center.

Warthen scored 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting, while grabbing three rebounds.

Cannon notched her third double-digit scoring performance of the season, as she recorded 10 points. Arizona has now recorded two or more double-digit scorers in 11 of its last 12 games.

Senior forward Alli Gloyd nearly had herself a double-double, as she poured in seven points, going a perfect 3-of-3 from the field, while pulling down a game-high eight rebounds.

Arizona (7-7, 0-3 Pac-12) forced Arizona State (14-1, 3-0 Pac-12) into 15 turnovers, while the Cats saw eight different players score in the game.

The Wildcats will get a shot at redemption, as they'll take on the Sun Devils for the second time in three days, Saturday at 6 pm MST in Tempe. The game can be seen on the Pac-12 Networks and can be heard on KTUC 1400 AM.

ARIZONA POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Niya Butts

Opening Statement
“I want to give Arizona State credit. They came in and they kicked our butts all over the court. There's not a whole lot to be said for that other than we better be ready to play on Saturday.”

Takeaways from the game
“We have to go watch some film and see if we can be better on Saturday.”

On the positives she's seen from the team thus far
“I thought we made some adjustments from the Washington State game to Washington, but I didn't see much improvement in this game. We didn't do anything that we were supposed to do. I think we took three steps back. Any of the progress that we made defensively from the first game to the second game went out the window with this game tonight. We fought in those first two games. I thought when our backs got against the wall we were able to crawl back in both of those games. We came up short, but we were able to crawl back. In this game I didn't think we had any of that”
