LAS VEGAS---The Wildcats dominated on day two out at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. on Saturday, as they went undefeated in singles play, collecting three victories on the afternoon.
“Doubles I felt like we didn't capitalize as well as we should have when looking to finish off points,” said head coach Tad Berkowitz. “As for singles, all of the guys did a nice job making the proper adjustments needed from yesterday to get the wins today.”
Shoki Kasahara led things off for the Cats, earning a hard-fought victory over Mesa Community College's Linus Holthey, 7-6 (2), 6-0, to put him in consolation finals match in flight one.
Will Adkisson was pushed to three sets, but came through with a victory over Boise State's Abe Hewko, 4-6, 6-4, (12-10). He now improves to 6-3 overall this fall.
Trevor James kept his winning ways going, as he easily defeated Grand Canyon University's Felix Schueller in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. James now runs his record to 5-3 this fall and will take on fellow Wildcat teammate Kasahara tomorrow in the back draw flight one final.
Adkisson and Kasahara unfortunately saw their doubles run end, as they were defeated by UNLV's Ruben Alberts and Jakob Amilor, 8-4 in the quarterfinals.
The Cats will be back in action on Sunday at 9 am.
