Birmingham, Ala.- The Cats completed day one of two at the Power 5 invitational today in Birmingham, Alabama. It was a day in which a few Cats were able to set personal records.

“It was definitely a very good first day” Head Coach Fred Harvey said. “With Gia and Pau setting personal records. One of the best performances was Traci Hicks because it was her very first race, even though that wasn't her personal best. The 60-meter hurdles are extremely competitive, so to see her just shy of her personal record was good to see. We are quickly finding out what kind of team we are going to be, we had a great meet last week but the competition wasn't as good as we will see here. I am really pleased with where we are at."

Here are the highlights from day one in Birmingham:

Traci Hicks began her indoor season by competing in the Women's 60-meter hurdles. Hicks posted a time of 8.48, just three-hundredths of a second shy of her personal record and good for 19th place overall.

On the men's side, Pau Tonnesen collected another personal record, this time in the 60-meter hurdle at a time of 8.24 seconds. That time was good for 13th place overall. He shaved off roughly four-tenths of a second off his previous record. Tonnesen was coming off a week in which he dominated the pole vault in Flagstaff by setting a personal record.

Finishing off the day for the Wildcats was the women's 200-meter dash. Tatum Waggoner set a personal record in the preliminaries with a time of 24.46, improving on her previous record of 24.55.  Gia Trevisan also set a new personal record clocking in at 25.20 seconds.

Arizona will continue the Power 5 Invitational tomorrow. Events will begin at 10 AM MT.
