AUSTIN, Texas – Arizona diving concluded day one of the Texas Diving Invitational with four of the five divers reaching the finals and all five setting new season-high scores in their events. The men competed in the 1-meter while the women dove in the 3-meter.
For the women, senior
Sally Hackett led the Cats with a fifth-place finish in the 3-meter with 327.75. Hackett moved up from eighth place in the prelims, scoring 271.45.
Junior
Kaitlin Costello followed her teammate, finishing sixth in the final with a score of 316.30 after taking fourth in the prelims with 325.40.
Also landing in the final was senior
Karolyn Loftus. Loftus placed eighth with a score of 279.65 after a seventh-place finish in the prelims (282.40).
Newcomer and junior
Haley Blount took 13th in the event with her season-high score of 240.70.
Representing the men in the 1-meter, freshman
Casey Ponton landed in the final of his first collegiate invitational. Ponton finished eighth in both the final and prelims with scores of 252.30 and 267.10, respectively.
Up Next: Arizona starts day two of the Texas Diving Invitational on Friday at 10 a.m. MST. The women will be competing in the 1-meter while the men dive in the 3-meter.
