Albuquerque, N.M. -- With the distance crew waiting until tomorrow to compete in Seattle, all eyes were on Arizona's other squad in New Mexico for the Don Kirby Invite where they impressed in day one.
“Overall it was definitely an outstanding day.” Head Coach Fred Harvey said. “Nnenya opened up in the hurdles and posted a top-15 mark in the country, which sets her up pretty nicely for the national championships. I thought Morgan's race was great and gave her a lot of confidence, that was really exciting for her and pleasing to see. Pau had a great day setting PRs on the vault with a mark of 17 feet and 7 inches and a quarter, and then with the hurdles at 8.13 seconds. The whole spirit of the team was great with everyone running so well. Gia ran a 24.47 which was a huge PR for her, she took over half of a second off of it.”
“We are excited about what we are doing, we have been extremely competitive and that is a great thing going into the conference meet in two weeks.”
