Pau Tonnesen was the lone Wildcat competing in the indoor championships in Birmingham, Alabama today. He competed in the first half of the heptathlon and the pole vault.
After day one, Pau Tonnesen stood in fifth place in the heptathlon competing in the 60-meter race, long jump,shot put, and the high jump. Here is how those events went:
Tonnesen started his day in the heptathlon with the 60-meter dash where he posted a personal record at 7.25 seconds.
He followed that up with another personal record in the long jump at 24 feet and 3.5 inches (7.40m).
Tonnesen finished the day's heptathlon events by posting a mark of 47 feet and 9.75 inches (14.57m) in the shot put, and a mark of 6 feet and 7 inches (2.01m) in the high jump.
Pau Tonnesen wrapped up the day by competing in the pole vault for the NCAA Championships where he finished 12th with a mark of 17 feet and 2.75 inches (5.25m).
Tomorrow Arizona will see Tonnesen finish up the heptathlon and the 4x400 relay squad of Tatum Waggoner, Gia Trevisan, Nnenya Hailey, and Sage Watson will give it a go as well.
