CALIFORNIA & LOUISIANA – Arizona track had continued action in the Brutus Hamilton and Triton Invite in California, as well as the beginning of the LSU Alumni Gold Classic in Baton Rouge.
Nnenya Hailey continued her torrid pace in the hurdles by posting a NCAA-Leading mark in the 400-meter hurdles at 54.98 seconds.
“Obviously, Nnenya was the highlight of the day for us." Head Coach Fred Harvey said.
"I was hoping to get more of an overall team effort from the rest of the team, but overall it was a great showing for us against greater competition."
Traci Hicks placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at 13.93 seconds. Tiana Bonds placed tenth at 14.53 seconds.
Savaughn Christman placed fifth in the 100-meter race at 12.05 seconds.
Isaac Hing ran his second-best career time in the 100-meter at 10.90 seconds, good for a 21st place finish in a loaded field.
Alyssa Thompson placed tenth in the long jump at 17 ft. - 9.5 in. (5.42m).
Jasper Gray came in fourth place in the 400-meter race with her fourth-best career mark at 55.11 seconds.
Michael Godbout placed sixth in the 800-meter race at 1:54.31.
Michael Demby placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles at 53.13 seconds. Morgan Struble took second for the women at 59.54 seconds.
Demby also teamed with Blake Eichler, Bryce Houston, and Miles Parish in the 4x400-meter relay for a fifth place finish at 3:10.37.
Brutus Hamilton Invite:
Collins Kibet took second-place in the 800-meter race at 1:47.26.
Claire Greene, Hanna Peterson, and Kate Penney all competed in the 1,500-meter race for the women. Green took second at 4:24.09, Penney took seventh at 4:31.32, Peterson took eighth at 4:33.38.
Sam Willis took sixth in the mile run at a mark of 4:07.41, his first time running the event in the outdoor season.
Triton Invitational:
Viktor Gardencrans placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 57 ft. - 1 in. (17.40m).
Gerhard De Beer took fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 193 ft. - 6 in. (58.98m), a top-15 mark in the country this year.
Cats will be back at home next weekend for the Duel in the Desert with rival ASU on Saturday, April 30th.
