Haley Moore Wins Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

The University of Arizona women's golf team completed their second and third rounds of play at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Monday in New Orleans, La. Sophomore Haley Moore won the individual competition shooting six-under-par for the tournament. This is Moore's first career collegiate victory, her fifth top-10 finish of the season, and the eight of her career. Moore had rounds of 70 (-2), 71 (-1), and 69 (-3).
"I played very steady these past two days," said Moore. "Whenever I would make a bogey I would come back with a birdie. I remained calm during the 36-hole day, as there was a lot of golf to play as well as knowing that anything can happen. Being this is my first win it means a lot because I have came close before to winning a tournament and to come back to win means a lot. I have been working very hard on every part of my game."
Arizona finished tied for 3rd shooting 875 for the tournament (+11) and posting scores of 295 (+7) and 284 (-4) on the day. Stanford won the team competition finishing the tournament one-under-par.
"Haley Moore winning her first college tournament was really impressive. She had birdie opportunities on all four holes down the stretch. It was a really special day", said coach Laura Ianello. "The team did awesome today, they played really solid. Our final round was the best scoring round of the tournament. I was really proud of the girls and the way they fought hard to finish tied for third. We showed a lot of heart down the stretch. The girls have been working very hard on their games and overall we are very happy!"
Senior Wanasa Zhou finished very strong with two rounds of 70 todat (-2). She finished tied for 10th at one-over-par. Junior Krystal Quihuis tied for 35th at nine-over-par with rounds of 76 and 73. Junior Natalia Forero competing as an individual finished tied for 35th after rounds of 73 and 76. Sophomore Danielle Lee posted two scores of 81 on the day. Senior Jessica Vasilic shot 78 and an even par 70 in her third round.
The Wildcats will next play at the Mountain View Invite March 10-12 in Catalina, Ariz.
