Arizona Tallies Three Top-Five Finishes on Day 3 of Pac-12 Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Arizona women's swimming and diving just trail USC in fourth place after day 3 of the Pac-12 Championships with a total score of 744. Stanford leads with 1,126 followed by California (953) and USC (762).
 
The Cats tallied 18 NCAA 'B' cuts from individual events and added an 'A' cut in the 400 medley relay.
 
Freshman Hannah Cox had one of the best performances of the night with a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM (4:07.96) and a season-best time. In the B final, junior Jenna Bauer took second with 4:12.11 while sophomore Daniela Georges finished sixth with 4:15.63. Junior Tjasa Oder placed second in the C final with 4:14.59. All three swam to new season-bests in the event.
 
Senior Sally Hackett again had a strong performance, finishing fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 322.50. The diver also took fourth in the 1-meter on Thursday.
 
Arizona added a third top-five finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of Taylor Garcia, Kennedy Lohman, Annie Ochitwa and Katrina Konopka placed fifth with a time of 3:33.08.
 
The Cats had three swimmers in the 100 breast as freshman Lohman swam to a sixth-place finish (1:00.23). Junior Alexandra Martelle took third in the B final (1:01.02) while freshman Mallory Korenwinder placed fifth (1:01.14).
 
In the 100 fly, school-record-holder Ochitwa, finished seventh with a time of 52.10. In the B final, sophomore Mackenzie Rumrill was runner-up with 52.75 while sophomore Garcia took fourth with 53.21.
 
Junior Sam Getzen won the C final of the 100 fly with 54.14. Junior Paige Kremer finished seventh in the C final with a time of 55.23.
 
The Cats went 1-2-3 in the B final of the 100 back. Garcia won the B final (52.30) followed by Ochitwa (52.65) and sophomore Konopka (52.73). In the C final, freshman Taylor Nations took sixth with 55.07 while sophomore Ashley Sutherland placed eighth with 55.53.
 
In the B final of the 200 free, junior Cameron McHugh finished eighth with 1:47.15. Sophomore Emma McCarthy was runner-up in the C final (1:46.65) followed by sophomore Sarah Shimomura (1:46.67).
 
Up Next: Arizona diving and women's swimming concludes the Pac-12 Championships on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 11:30 a.m. MST with the prelims of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast and 200 fly. The prelims of the women's platform begin at 1:30 p.m. MST. Other events include the 1,650 free and 400 free relay.
