2017-18: Had the fourth-fastest time on the team in the 200 free with 1:47.21, earning an NCAA B cut at the Pac-12 Championships…Earned an NCAA B cut in the 500 free with 4:44.85…Finished in the top-five thirteen times throughout the season across the 500 and 1,000 free…Never placed lower than sixth in the 1,000 free, including three third-place finishes…Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.

2016-17: Had the third fastest team time in the 500 free with 4:42.72 (NCAA B cut) and 1,000 free with 9:55.75…Apart of the 800 free relay which qualified for an NCAA A cut (7:00.26)…Placed runner-up twice in the 200 free (at UCLA, vs. NAU/OSU/NMSU)…Finished 5th at the Texas Invitational with a personal best 4:42.72 in the 500 free…Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.

2015-16: Had the fastest time on the team in the 1,650 free (16:26.45) and second fastest in the 1,000 free (9:57.27)…Earned All-America honorable mention honors as a member of the 800 free relay team that took ninth at NCAA Championships (6:59.84)…Finished sixth in the 1,650 free (16:28.17) and third in the B final of the 500 free (4:44.85) at Pac-12 Championships…Was runner-up in the 1,000 free against No. 2 Stanford and No. 4 Texas…Took sixth in the 500 free (4:45.09) and 1,650 free (16:26.45) at the Texas Invitational.

High School: A four-time letterwinner at Redwood High School in the 100 free, 200 free and 500 free…Was team captain and MVP all four years of high school…Won the Don Kreps Award and was Redwood’s 2015 Senior Female Athlete of the Year…Holds the school record in the 500 free…Was ranked as the 41st recruit out of California.

Personal: Born Emma Noel McCarthy in April of 1997 to Mike and Myriam McCarthy…Has two younger brothers, Sean and Caz…Pursuing a major in Business Economics…Likes to hike, surf, draw and spend time with family and friends…Chose Arizona over Vanderbilt and Duke because “the coaching staff is absolutely incredible, and the team is very tight knit and driven, which was something I was really looking for during my college search. I knew out of all the schools I was looking at, Arizona was the one that was going to allow me to see how far I can go in the sport of swimming, while simultaneously giving me a great education”....Her father, Mike, was a U.S. Olympic cyclist team member in 1988 and 1996, and a world champion in 1992.
