LOS ANGELES – Former Wildcat great Ify Ibekwe has signed a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Sparks, as announced by the team. Ibekwe was originally drafted by the Seattle Storm in the second round of the 2011 WNBA Draft, but has recently been playing in Spain where she averaged 16.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game.
 
Ibekwe played at Arizona from 2008-11 and has her name near the top of a plethora of school records. She is fourth on the all-time scoring list (1,653), fourth on field goals made (628), fifth on free throws made (362), first in total rebounds (1,194) and rebounds per game (10.3), fifth in steals (228), second in blocked shots (16) and recorded the most double-doubles of any other Wildcat (55).
 
She is the only player in school history to average a double-double for her career as she averaged 14.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in 116 total games.
 
Ibekwe and the Sparks are set to begin their season on May 13 as they take on the Seattle Storm in Los Angeles. The game will be aired live on ESPN at 2 p.m. MST.
