FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Arizona diving closed out day 2 of the NCAA Zone E Championships on Tuesday in Flagstaff. The women competed in the 1-meter and the men participated in the 3-meter. Senior
Sally Hackett notched a spot at the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter as part of the top 11.
Hackett finished 11th in the 1-meter with a score of 555.25, taking the last qualifying spot. She took eighth in the prelim with 277.45. Since the senior finished in the top 12 of the 3-meter on Monday, she is now eligible in that event as well at the NCAA Championships.
Junior
Kaitlin Costello also made it to the finals of the 1-meter to place 18th (516.15). Costello finished 13th in the prelims earlier with 264.75. Also in the prelims, senior
Karolyn Loftus placed 51st with a score of 130.25.
For the men, freshman
Casey Ponton finished 14th in the prelims of the 3-meter (300.60) and 13th in the final (607.65).
The top 11 qualified in the 1-meter for the women and the top five qualified in the 3-meter for the men.
Up Next: Arizona diving concludes the NCAA Zone E Championships on Wednesday, Mar. 8 at 11 a.m. MST. The women and men both compete in the platform. The top 11 qualify for the women and the top seven will qualify for men.
