TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona (11-12, 2-8 Pac-12) lost a 4-0 match to No. 26 Arizona State (14-6, 7-3 Pac-12) on Saturday Apr. 22 in Tempe, Ariz.
"ASU was the better team today," said head coach
Vicky Maes. "There was a moment in the doubles where we could have done some damage but we came up short. It led to a slow start in singles and ASU kept their foot on the gas. We need to regroup and hopefully have a healthy team going to the Pac-12 tournament next week."
The doubles point was not earned easily. Arizona State jumped ahead when Anderson/Slaysman defeated
Samantha Czarniak and
Marie Van Aelst 6-1. The No. 56 duo of
Lauren Marker and
Paris Corley evened things up with a 6-3 win over Osborne/Fossa Huergo. The Sun Devils clinched the point when Jump/Hampton beat
Camila Wesbrooks and
Devin Chypyha 6-4.
