PULLMAN, Wash. - Arizona (11-9, 2-5 Pac-12) held on for a 4-3 victory over Washington State (9-12, 0-7 Pac-12) on Sunday, Apr. 9 in Pullman.

"We are very happy with this win," said head coach Vicky Maes. "Washington State played a really strong match and didn't give us an inch. We had to fight for every point all the way until the end. Kudos to Sophia for once again stepping up big for the team when we needed it most. Clinching a 3-3 match is an incredible feat when you do it once, and that's her second time this season."

The Wildcats got out to an early lead by clinching the doubles point. Lauren Marker and Paris Corley defeated Miksovska/Matejevic 6-1. The Cougars answered when Michalkova/Ates won a 6-3 match over Camila Wesbrooks and Sophia Thomas. Samantha Czarniak and Marie Van Aelst sealed the point with a 7-5 victory over Yusupova/Tomey.
 
No. 27 Marker put the Cats up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Barbora Michalkova. Wesbrooks put Arizona on the brink of victory by beating Victoria Matejevic 6-2, 6-4. The Cougars wouldn't give in, however, storming back to tie the match at 3-3. Guzal Yusupova beat Czarniak 7-6 (1), 6-0. Aneta Miksovska defeated No. 113 Corley 6-4, 6-7 (1), 6-4. Melissa Ates won a 6-2, 7-5 match over Van Aelst to tie the match. That's when Thomas came up clutch for the second time this season, beating Ege Tomey 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 to give Arizona the 4-3 match victory.
