BERKELEY, Calif. – Wildcats drop their second-straight meet to top-5 California Bears. The final for the men was 123-165 and the women was 96-195.
Justin Wright finished first in his second-straight 200 fly race, and freshman
Brooks Fail notched a win in the 500 free.
The Wildcats open up the meet with two third-place finishes by the 200 medley relays.
Chatham Dobbs,
Matthew Salerno,
Riccardo Maestri, and
Parks Jones clocked in at 1:29.67. The women's team, consisting of
Daniela Georges,
Mallory Korenwinder,
Mackenzie Rumrill, and
Katrina Konopka, got a 1:41.82 time.
Both
Hannah Cox (10:04.99) and Fail (9:06.46) place second in the 1,000 free.
Jerad Kaskawal (9:22.75),
Chris Wieser (9:32.96), and
Isaac Stump (9:33.42) follow.
Emma McCarthy finished third with 10:09.14 for the women.
Georges takes second in the 100 back for the women with 55.42.
Thomas Anderson (50.50) and
Matt Lujan (51.11) place third and fourth, respectively.
Korenwinder places runner-up in the women's 100 breast with 1:03.08. Salerno placed third with 56.35 for the men.
Sam Iida touched just behind with 56.36 for fourth.
Wright won the 200 fly for the second straight day with 1:44.70.
Brendan Meyer finished third for the men with 1:45.87.
Mik Ranslem (2:01.60) and
Mackenzie Rumrill (2:01.84) place third and fourth, respectively, in the 200 fly.
Katrina Konopka (22.98) took runner-up in the 50 free, followed by
Morgan Ginnis (23.21) and
Ashley Sutherland (23.42). For the men,
Gabriel Cardenes finished third with 20.59 and JP Beach fourth (20.99).
Kirsten Jacobsen finished second in the 200 free with 1:48.30.
Parks Jones finished third and
Jorge Iga fourth in the men's 200 free with 44.81 and 45.44, respectively.
In the 200 back,
Cameron McHugh (1:57.57) took runner-up and Georges (1:58.14) touched just behind her for third.
Nick Thorne placed third for the men with 1:48.52, and Meyer took fourth (1:50.08).
Iida finished second and Korenwinder placed third in the 200 breast for the Wildcats with 2:01.93 and 2:18.73, respectively.
Fail won the 500 free with 4:25.42 and Stump followed with 4:27.96 for runner-up. Jacobsen, with 4:49.81, touched just 0.01 second behind the winner.
Rumrill placed third in the 100 fly (54.63) for the women and Georges runner-up in the 200 IM (2:00.85).
The Wildcat women finished runner-up in the 200 free relay with 1:31.88. The women's B team touched just behind for third with 1:32.85. The men close out the meet with a second-place finish with 1:22.21.
Delaney Schnell scored 282.53 to earn runner-up in the 1-meter and 264.30 in the 3-meter.
Casey Ponton placed second in the 3-meter dive for Arizona, earning 307.05 points.
