TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona completed two of three home matches this weekend on Friday, Jan. 26 and came away with two victories. Arizona (0-0) moved past Northern Arizona (0-1) by a score of 7-0 and beat Boise State (1-0) by a score of 4-0.
"I felt that today, we did a good job clinching matches and pulling out of tough places. We need to work on not getting into those places in the first place though," said head coach
Vicky Maes. "We had some lulls during both matches where things were going well and we were making good decisions and then we sort of faded a little bit and let the other team come back. We definitely struggled in doubles, especially at number two. We cannot afford to have a quality team like ours come out and not perform, so we'll tweak that out. Our number one doubles team did really well playing two good teams and pulling it out. Our number three doubles team pulled it out which shows a lot of mental toughness from two freshmen. Overall, for our first day it was tougher than we would have liked but we will appreciate the experience and the pressure that we had to overcome and hopefully carry that out throughout the season."
