Starting every match at midfield,
Kennedy Kieneker has been a key force is one of Arizona's most successful seasons so far and has not missed one match since she landed in Tucson her freshman year. The senior has been a key play maker for Arizona's offense and defense and hopes to leave a mark in the Arizona legacy her final season.
Are there any professional players you look up to?
"I like Sydney Leroux, but not necessarily as a player, I follow her on Instagram. I think her family is so cute. I also really like Shannon Box because she was a holding midfielder and she was really good."
What is your favorite Pac-12 team to play against?
"My favorite team to play is definitely the University of Washington, or even Washington State because I am from Seattle. A lot of my friends that went to my high school went to Washington State, but I also know a couple girls that play on University of Washington, so I love playing there."
How do you prepare for game week?
"I always just try to relax. It is hard because you tempted to go to the pool and stuff like that, but I always try to stay in my room, sleep, and go do recovery."
Why did you choose the number 12?
"In club growing up I was always number six and I really wanted six, but my freshman year Sheaffer [Skadsen] had number six and she was a senior. So I just thought, six plus six is 12, so picked 12."
What are your goals for the season?
"I want to leave a mark. We always talk about building a legacy, and I just want to be a part of that. I want to bring it up one step further than last year."
Kieneker and the Wildcats will take the field next Thursday, Oct. 4th at 3 pm MST to face USC at McAlister Field in Los Angeles, Calif.
