TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona's women's tennis team (9-10, 0-5 in Pac-12) fell 5-0 to No. 28 Stanford (11-3, 5-0 in Pac-12) on Saturday at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

In doubles play, Stanford's Caroline Lampl/Kimberly Yee won over Arizona's Marie Van Aelst/Gitte Heynemans on court one 6-1. Melissa Lord/Janice secured the doubles point for the Cardinal when they beat Paris Corley/Sohpia Thomas 6-3 on court two, leaving the third match unfinished.
 
No. 10 Michaela Gordon won over Devin Chypyha 6-2, 6-1 to continue Stanford's success into the singles matches. Wildcat Camila Wesbrooks fell to No. 64 Melissa Lord 6-1, 6-3 on court two, and No. 40 Emily Arbuthnott clinched the match for the Cardinal when she defeated Marie Van Aelst 6-1, 6-0. Emma Higuchi won over Talya Zandberg 6-0, 6-0 on court six.

"I think we played really well this week, but we just came up a bit short mentally and physically," said head coach Vicky Maes. "We're putting ourselves into positions to win matches with a lot of deuce games, but we just couldn't convert them. I think we did a great job in the doubles and put ourselves into some deuce games, but Stanford was a little more resilient than us. We need everyone to be on their game to beat a team like Stanford. I think the girls came back and had a bit more fire than we had against Oregon. It's good to see that fire at home and to be able to play in the comfort of home.We showed a lot of heart this week and we need to keep that up. Every day is a new day, and I'm seeing a lot of positive things with our team, despite how young we are."

The Cats will host No. 49 Washington on Friday, April 6 at 1:30 p.m. MST and No. 31 Washington State on Saturday, April 7 at 12 p.m. MST.
