"I feel like we put up a really good fight," said head coach
Vicky Maes. "In doubles, it didn't seem like we would find the resiliency to fight back in singles, but the girls did. ASU was solid in doubles and they are very, very good at executing the basics. They made very few unforced errors and we had our backs to the wall the whole time. Based on doubles, I feel like we came back strong in singles and we had opportunities on every court. ASU is a well-seasoned, well-coached team that had some really significant wins this year, so if we can hang with them, we know we can hang with anybody. It's unfortunate that we didn't pull it out today, but if we believe in each other and fight together, that can make a difference. Hopefully we can carry some of the energy and momentum into the Pac-12 tournament next week and get a win. Overall, I saw great effort from the team and I finally saw the team I was hoping for all season."
The regular season has concluded. The Wildcats travel to Ojai, Calif. next week for the Pac-12 Championships, which begin on Wednesday, Apr. 25.
