TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona (9-12, 0-7 in Pac-12) lost 4-1 to No. 34 Washington State's women's tennis team (20-3, 5-2 in Pac-12) on Saturday at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center

Washington State's Barbora Michalkova/Melissa Ates beat Arizona's Mary Lewis/Paris Corley 6-2 on court one to start out in doubles. Michaela Bayerlova/Aneta Miksovska won the doubles point for the Cougars when they defeated Marie Van Aelst/Gitte Heynemans 6-0 on court three, leaving the third match unfinished between Devin Chypyha/Camila Wesbrooks and Guzal Yusupova/Tiffany Mylonas on court two. 
 
In singles, Guzal Yusupova won over Mary Lewis 6-3, 6-2 on court two. Arizona's only point of the match came from Camila Wesbrooks when she defeated Aneta Miksovska 6-3, 6-1 on court four, making the score 2-1. Paris Corley lost to Tiffany Mylonas 6-1, 7-6(7-4) on court three, and Melissa Ates won 7-5, 6-4 over Sophia Thomas on court six to win the match 4-1, leaving the matches on courts one and five unfinished. 

"I have mixed feelings about today," said head coach Vicky Maes. "I feel like we just can't get over that hump and this a team that we played very close to. The scores don't reflect how good we were playing and how close we battled and it's hard. We couldn't convert points in the doubles, but we converted points in singles to win a few sets, and the match could have gone either way. At the end of the day, it's not about perception. It's about what we're doing to get better, to fight, and to improve every single day. Today, they were a bit more mentally ready then us and we just need to keep working hard."

The Wildcats head to Los Angeles next weekend to face No. 40 USC and No. 14 UCLA on Friday, Apr. 13 at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday, Apr. 14 at 12 p.m. MST, respectively.
