Tokyo Bound: Three Wildcats to Compete in the 2020 Olympics

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Three Wildcats, two alumnae and one current player, will compete on the world's biggest stage next summer. Taylor McQuillin (Mexico), Dejah Mulipola (United States) and Danielle O'Toole (Mexico) will participate in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
The trio is set to become Arizona's fifth, sixth and seventh Olympians, joining Leah O'Brien (1996, 2000, 2004), Jennie Finch (2004, 2008), Lovie Jung (2004, 2008) and Caitlin Lowe (2008). Arizona has also had two alternates: Nicole Giordano (2004) and Alicia Hollowell (2008). Head Coach Mike Candrea was the USA Softball head coach during its gold-medal performance in 2004 and silver-medal performance in 2008, bringing UA's total to 10 players/coaches with Olympic ties.

DEJAH MULIPOLA

- A three-year starter at catcher, has started 179 of UA's 182 games at catcher in her career
- Named Johnny Bench and NFCA Catcher of the Year as a junior in 2019
- In 2019, became Arizona's first, first-team NFCA All-American catcher since 1998 (Leah Braatz)

- Will enters her senior season with 47 career home runs, 18th most in UA history

DANIELLE O'TOOLE

- Two-time first-team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Defensive performer
- Won 56 games in her two-year Wildcat career with a 1.69 ERA over 81 appearances
- Began playing for Team Mexico this summer
- Helped lead Mexico to a win in the Americas Olympic Qualifier to punch her ticket to Tokyo
- Went 2-0 with a 0.49 ERA in the Olympic Qualifier, fourth best ERA among qualified pitchers in the event while her 17 strikeouts over 14.1 innings ranked fifth in the tournament
