Men's Golf Announces 2019 Signing Class

TUCSON, Ariz.- The Arizona Men's Golf program announced the addition of Sam Sommerhauser to the 2020-21 signing class. A native of Rocklin, California, Sommerhauser has shined at Whitney High School in his prep career and will join the Wildcats for next season.

"Sam is a perfect fit at a perfect time," Wildcats head coach Jim Anderson said. "He is an incredibly hard worker and his game is very well suited for college golf. He has a great understanding of his golf swing and he keeps a very tight shot dispersion off the tee. (Assistant Coach Chris Nallen) and I have watched Sam continue growing as a player and developing as a top golfer and we believe he has the game to impact our team immediately. Anytime we are able to sign a top player in California, particularly Northern California, we feel great about it. Lots of great Wildcats have come from this area and we believe Sam will be the next great one."

Sommerhauser was a recipient of the Scholar Athlete Award at Whitney and is currently serving as the Team Captain.

On becoming a Wildcat:

"I chose Arizona because it was a perfect fit for me and I know the program will help me reach my goals. It means a lot to be a Wildcat golfer because it has been my goal since I started playing; to play Division 1 college golf, at one of the top schools in the nation. I am looking forward to competing against some of the top schools in the country, playing some great courses with the team, and ultimately trying to win a national championship. Coach Anderson and Coach Nallen are very supportive, and I know with their leadership, this team will be able to accomplish big things."
