Wildcats Atop The Leaderboard After Round One of NCAA Marana Regional

Arizona Men's Golf completed the first round of the NCAA Marana Regional on Monday at The Gallery Golf Club, finishing the day tied for first place at 11-under as a team. The Wildcats put together one of the top rounds of the opening day and will head into the second round firmly in the top five to advance.

Leading the way for Arizona was Filip Jakubcik, who carded a 5-under 67 to finish the opening round tied for third individually. Jakubcik recorded seven birdies on the day, and capped off a 5-under back nine with a birdie on the drivable 17th.

William Wistrand and Taishi Moto each posted rounds of 3-under 69 and are tied for seventh overall after 18 holes. Wistrand tallied four birdies during his round, while Moto highlighted his scorecard with five birdies.

Zach Pollo added an even-par 72 for the Wildcats and sits tied for 28th individually heading into round two. Tianyi Xiong rounded out Arizona's lineup with a 2-over 74 in the opening round.

Filip Jakubcik is tied for the lowest par four scoring average in round one after playing them 4-under today. His seven birdies on the day was the second most in the field. Taishi Moto played the challenging par threes 2-under which was second best today.
