TUCSON, Ariz. – Soccer's Emily Knous, Beach Volleyball's Natalie Anselmo, Men's Track and Field's Trevor Volpe, and Men's Swimming and Diving's Eric Correa have been honored as the student-athletes of the month for October.

These students have been honored for their commitment to earning their undergraduate degree, the ability to maximize their academic potential, and their dedication to academic improvement and growth.

These students have been chosen by the C.A.T.S Academic staff.

Knous is a sophomore midfielder from Long Beach, California, and was named 2018 Pac-12 All-Freshman as well as a Top Drawer Second-Team Best X1. Knous is majoring in Pre-Business and has excelled both on and off the field.

"Emily is a rock star," said learning specialist Lacey John. "She is the definition of a 'can do' attitude, and she makes an effort to be at events and activities above and beyond her academic and athletic demands (PAL, Inspiring Women, Speakers, Career Development, etc..). Emily came in a semester early and has been succeeding in the classroom every semester since. She is a pre-business major with a minor in Italian and she was awarded the Pac-12 All-Freshmen last year. She is a pleasure to work with a consistent positive attitude and a work ethic to match."

Anselmo is a senior from Los Angeles, California. Anselmo is majoring in Accounting and earned the 2019 AVCA Top Flight (Flight 3) after going being part of the only pair nationally to go undefeated.

"Natalie is a senior and she currently has a 3.5 GPA in Eller College of Management," said learning specialist Max Krieger. "She is a great student and a strong leader on her team."

Volpe is a junior from Tucson, Arizona, who is majoring in Finance. Last season, Volpe competed in nine outdoor events and took second in the 4x100 meter relay at the Pac-12 Championships.

"Trevor holds a 4.0 GPA in Eller College of Management and is SAAC President," said learning specialist Max Krieger. "He is a stand-out in all aspects of life; academically, athletically and socially. He is one of the student-athletes that is helping with our resume initiatives for student athletes."

Correa is a sophomore from Dyer, Indiana. Correa is a Pre-Public Health major and finished his freshman season with five victories and placed 4th or better 14 times in all events.

"Eric is a Sophomore Diver from the Chicago area," said learning specialist Corey Talley. "Since he has come to campus, he has applied himself in the classroom, he works hard to do his best in all of his classes. Outside of academics, Eric has truly been a leader with all of his involvement with different student-athlete organizations. He has shown an overall commitment to not only being the best student-athlete but to being a productive member of society."
