OFF THE TOP
  • Arizona will head out on the road for its final conference road trip of the season. The Wildcats open it with a Thursday night contest at Oregon State, before heading to Eugene to take on Oregon on Sunday night. Arizona has won nine of the past 10 matchups with Oregon State, including the last two in Corvallis.
  • The Wildcats are coming off a home sweep of Cal and Stanford to snap a seven-game skid. The Wildcats outscored their two opponents by a combined 41 points.
  • Arizona's bench outscored their opponents 54-10 last weekend against Cal and Stanford. Arizona's second group has outscored the opposing bench by 102 points in 15 Pac-12 games. The Wildcats' bench has outscored the opposing bench 18 times this year.
  • Sophomore forward Ira Lee had a career-high 16 points last game against Stanford. Lee is 19 of 23 from the floor over his last five games. In 15 Pac-12 games, he is shooting .605 from the floor, which is the sixth best mark in the conference.
  • Arizona is averaging just 11.2 turnovers per game this season, which is the best mark in the conference. The Wildcats have a +3.6 turnover margin, which is tops in the league and 19th in the nation.
  • The Wildcats have committed 10 or fewer turnovers in seven of their last nine games. On the flip side, Arizona opponents have committed 10 or more turnovers in each of the last 10 games.
  • Senior forward Ryan Luther is averaging a team-best 13.6 points per game over his last five. Luther has 40 3-pointers on the season with 22 of them coming in the last seven games.
  • Freshman Brandon Williams returned from a knee injury against Stanford and played 18 minutes.

HISTORY WITH THE BEAVERS
Arizona enters Thursday's game with Oregon State having won nine of the past 10 matchups in the series. The Wildcats lead it all-time 64-21 and are 24-15 in Corvallis. Coach Sean Miller is 13-4 against the Beavers as the coach of Arizona. The Wildcats won the first meeting with Oregon State this year, 82-71. The magic number to watch may be 70. Miller and the Wildcats are 11-1 against the Beavers when they score 70 or more points and 2-3 when they don't. In the first matchup with Oregon State this season, Arizona went 13 for 27 from 3-point range and outrebounded the Beavers, 41-29. Ryan Luther had the lone double-double of his season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. In Corvallis, Miller is 4-3 against the Beavers with the Wildcats winning the two most recent matchups there in 2017 and 2018.

LUTHER LEADING THE WAY
Senior Ryan Luther, a graduate transfer from Pittsburgh, has been more aggressive lately, and it is paying off for the 6-foot-10-inch sharpshooter. Over Arizona's last five games, Luther is the team's leading scorer at 13.6 points per game. During that stretch, he is 17 of 35 from deep. His 17 made 3s over the last five are 10 more than his next closest teammate, Dylan Smith. Luther has scored in double figures in four of his last five games and five of his last seven. Prior to that, Luther hadn't scored in double figures in back-to-back games the entire season. On the season, Luther has his 3-point percentage up to .400, which is 10th in the Pac-12 Conference. He's shooting .412 from deep in conference games, which ranks 11th in the league. If you need more proof of how hot Luther has been, consider that 22 of his 40 made 3-pointers this season have come in the past seven games. He has hit three or more 3-pointers in five of his last seven games. Prior to that, Luther had three or more 3s in a game just once in the first 21 games.

TAKING CARE OF THE BALL
Coach Sean Miller's team has done a good job taking care of the basketball recently and all season. The Wildcats have posted single-digit turnovers in six of their past nine games and have turned it over 10 times or less in five straight road games. Prior to a 20-turnover game at home against Washington,  Arizona had posted single-digit turnovers in three straight games. It was the first time since the final three games of the 2016-17 season. It was the first time Arizona has committed single-digit turnovers in at least three straight conference games since 2013-14 when the Cats did it in four straight against Colorado, California, Stanford and Oregon State. Arizona is 34th in the country and is tops in the Pac-12 in turnovers per game at 11.2. The Cats have a +3.6 turnover margin on the season, which is 19th in the country and leads the Pac-12. The next closest is Washington at +2.8. Arizona has a +3.9 turnover margin in conference games only, which is the second-best mark in the conference. Washington is the leader at +4.3. The Wildcats had 17 total turnovers in two games on the Mountain trip earlier this month and nine the previous game against Washington State. The Wildcats turned it over 11 times Thursday against California and nine Sunday against Stanford. In the first matchup with Oregon State this season, Arizona had 11 turnovers.

BENCH PRODUCTION UP
It hasn't just been the starters producing for Arizona this season. The Wildcats have gotten a lift all year from their bench. Arizona's bench has outscored or tied its opponent in 13 of the past 17 games. Over the weekend, Arizona's bench outscored Cal's and Stanford's 54-10 in the two games. Arizona outscored Cal 31-7 on Thursday, before outscoring the Cardinal's second unit, 23-3. The second unit has been led lately by Alex Barcello, Ira Lee and Devonaire Doutrive. Barcello scored 14 points Thursday against Cal, while Doutrive scored a career-high 11 points. Lee played 20 minutes and had six points and four rebounds, while going 3 of 3 from the floor. Against Stanford, Lee had a career-high 16 points on 6 of 7 shooting from the floor. Barcello knocked down his only 3-point attempt and Doutrive played 12 minutes. The Wildcats' bench has outscored the opponent in 18 of 28 games this season, and have tied twice more, meaning Arizona's bench has only been outscored eight times this season. The bench has combined for 20 or more points in eight of the last 14 games. Of Arizona's primary rotation players, only  Barcello and Doutrive have come off the bench in every game this season. Lee has come off the bench in 25 of his 27 games, and is averaging nearly 17 minutes per game on the year.

Arizona's Bench by the Numbers:
102: Arizona's bench has outscored the opponent's bench by 102 points in 15 Pac-12 games
14: Arizona's bench has scored 20 or more points 14 times this season
18: The Wildcats bench has outscored the opponent 18 times this season
54: The second group combined for 54 points in two wins last weekend against Stanford and Cal
