FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – At NCAA Zone E Diving Championships,
Delaney Schnell placed in the top-3 in all dive events. The sophomore will represent the DiveCats at NCAA Championships next week, qualifying in all three events.
School Record
Schnell won the platform competition and set the school record with 361.15 points in finals, for a total of 678. The Tucson-native beat her own personal best and previous school record by over 20 points and won the event by over 150.
NCAA Qualifyers
In the women's 3m, Schnell finished runner-up with 653.40 total points, improving from fifth place and 311.65 points in prelims. The sophomore placed third in the 1m with 616.50 points.
Additional Results
On the men's side, both
Casey Ponton and
Eric Correa earned spots in finals in all events competed in.
Ponton finished sixth in the 1m with 625.50 total points and Correa placed sixteenth with 549.40. Ponton placed twelfth and Correa fourteenth in the men's 3m with 620.80 and 601.95 total points, respectively. In the platform, junior Ponton placed eighth with 593.60.
Up Next: Women's Swimming and Diving heads to Austin, Texas to compete at NCAA Championships March 20-23. Men's swim and dive will compete at NCAA's March 27-30, also in Austin.
