  • Michigan State enters the midweek game with a record of 1-9, their only win of the year coming on an 8-4 decision on Opening Day at New Orleans. They are currently tied for last place in the Big Ten with Purdue (1-9).
  • Arizona's Friday night victory over Milwaukee gave head coach Jay Johnson 200 career wins as an NCAA Division I head coach. Across time with Nevada (2014-15) and Arizona (2016-current), Johnson has steered his teams to a record of 201-113 (.640).
  • After driving in a pair of runs in Friday night's victory, infielder Nick Quintana crossed the 100 career RBI mark. After this weekend's action, Quintana has 102 career RBI in a Wildcats uniform.
  • Sunday afternoon's victory extended the Wildcats impressive stretch of non-conference home series play. Arizona has won or split every home non-conference series (2+ games) under head coach Jay Johnson, a stretch that includes 11 such series.
SERIES HISTORY: Tuesday night will be the third all-time meeting between Arizona and Michigan State...The Spartans currently lead the all-time series, 2-0...The most recent game between the two programs came on March 4, 2018 at the Pac-12/Big 10 Challenge at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN - Michigan State won the game, 3-2...Six current Arizona players saw action in that game: Nick Quintana, Matt Fraizer, Cameron Cannon, Randy Labaut, Preston Price, and Jacob Blas...The only other matchup came in the 1954 College World Series on June 11 - the Spartans claimed a 2-1 victory in that matchup, handing the Wildcats their first loss of the '54 CWS.

STREAKONOMICS: Freshman infielder/first baseman Dayton Dooney currently sports the longest active on-base streak on the team, having reached base safely in each of his last 10 games...Over that stretch, dating back to February 16 (GM1) against UMass Lowell, Dooney has recorded seven base hits and drawn nine walks...Since sliding in as the Wildcats regular starter at second base on February 23, Dooney has logged a hit in five-of-six games while drawing five walks...Outfielders Matt Fraizer and Tate Soderstrom are tied for the team lead with the longest active hitting streaks, with both players having registered a base knock in six straight games...During Fraizer's streak, dating back to February 23 at Houston, he has hit .448 (13x29) with nine runs scored, six RBI, one double, and one home run...For Soderstrom, since his streak began on February 23 at Houston, he has hit .353 (6x17) with three runs scored, eight RBI, three doubles, and one home run.
