FEDERAL WAY, Wash.– Arizona men's swimming finished third in the Pac-12 with 570 points, over 100 points greater than Arizona State in fourth. In the final day of championships, 21 Wildcats competed in finals with two top-three finishes.
Head Coach
Augie Busch is very pleased with the performance displayed tonight and throughout the entire competition, "These men came together and had a great meet. I am so proud of they way they competed every session."
The Wildcats' third-place finish was the men's top finish in the Pac-12 Championship since 2012 (3rd).
Personal Bests
David Schlicht earned bronze in the 200 breast with 1:53.50. The freshman swam a personal best and tied-for-fourth fastest in school history.
Sam Iida finished fifth in the prelims of the 200 breast with 1:53.79. The sophomore earned a personal best and moved up to sixth-fastest in school history.
Season Bests
Thomas Anderson placed eighth in the 200 back with 1:43.29, an NCAA B cut and season-best.
In the 100 free,
Jorge Iga finished eighth with 42.91.
Marin Ercegovic placed third in the B final with a season-best 43.10.
Brendan Meyer placed sixth in the 200 fly with 1:43.23, a season-best.
The 400 free relay A team earned silver with 2:50.45. Iga,
Chatham Dobbs, Anderson, and Ercegovic earned an NCAA A cut in a season-best swim.
Additional Results
Brooks Fail finished fifth in the 1,650 free with 14:50.88.
Jerad Kaskawal (15:13.24) placed eleventh and
Christian Imbus (15:19.47) thirteenth.
Mathias Oh placed eighth in the 200 fly with 1:45.16.
