2017-18: Held the fastest team time in the 50 free (19.12), 100 fly (45.31), and 100 back (45.69), all personal bests…A three-time All-American Honorable Mention in the 100 fly, 400 free relay, and 400 medley relay…Finished in the top-four seven times this season, including a victory in the 100 fly against Texas (48.44)…Holds the sixth-fastest time in school history in the 50 free, and third fastest in the 100 fly and 100 back…Earned an NCAA A cut at NCAA Championships, finishing ninth in prelims…Apart of four relay teams, all of which earned NCAA A cuts…CSCAA Scholar All-American.

2016-17: Earned five honorable mention All-America designation, placing top 16 in the 100y butterfly and four relays … Placed 15th in the 100y fly at the NCAA Championships with a time of 45.86, the fourth fastest time in UA history … Also earned honorable mention All-America status with the 200y freestyle relay (16th; 1:17.93), 400y freestyle relay (16th; 2:51.48), 200y medley relay (t14th; 1:24.63) and 400y medley relay (13th; 3:06.58) … Named a CSCAA Scholar All-American … Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention … Earned five victories in the 100y butterfly, one second place finish and two third place finishes during the regular season … Finished sixth in the 100y butterfly in the Pac-12 Championships and 15th in the NCAA Championships … Finished first in the 50y freestyle in two of his four races (1/21/17 vs. Stanford; 2/4/17 vs. ASU) … Had the team’s fastest 50y freestyle time of the season at the Texas Invitational (19.64) … Placed fifth in the 100y freestyle vs. Texas (45.90) … Finished ninth in the Pac-12 Championships in the 100y backstroke with a time of 45.90, the fastest 100y backstroke of any Wildcat in 2016-17 … Swam the fourth fastest 200y backstroke on the team in his lone swim in the event (1:44.11; 12/3/16; Texas Invitational) … Earned NCAA A cuts as a part of Arizona’s fastest 200y freestyle relay of the season (1:17.13; 12/3/16; Texas Invitational), 200y medley relay (1:23.34; 3/4/17; Pac-12 Championships) and 400y medley relay (3:06.58; 3/25/17; NCAA Championships).

2015-16: Holds two top-ten all-time performances in the 100 back (45.58 – 3rd) and 200 back (1:42.47 – 8th) from the Texas Invitational…Holds the fastest time on the team in the 100 back…Earned a first-place finish in the 100 back (49.08) and placed third in the 100 free (46.13) against No. 18 USC…Was runner-up in the 100 back at No. 2 California (49.74) and third against No. 1 Texas (49.95)…At the Pac-12 Championships, was a member of both relay teams that earned Pac-12 titles (200 free relay, 200 medley relay)…Finished second in the 100 back (45.72) and third in the 50 free (19.57) at Pac-12s…At NCAA Championships, earned four All-America honorable mention honors, three from relays and one individual…Took second in the B final of the 100 back at NCAAs (45.62) and had three top-15 finishes in relay events…Named Arizona Athletics’ Male Freshman Student-Athlete of the Year.

Prep: A four-year letterwinner at Montgomery Bell Academy…Was MVP for three years and his senior year captain…Made Tennessee All-State during his freshmen, sophomore and senior years…Was a three-year All-American for Montgomery Bell…Received the Big Red award his sophomore and senior year…Was the state champion in the 50 free setting the state record (20.28)…Holds school records in the 200 IM, 100 back, 50 free and 200 medley relay…His team was the 2012 Tennessee State Champions…Was the number one recruit out of Tennessee and 29th overall.

Personal: Born Chatham James Dobbs in July of 1996 to Michael and Anne Dobbs…Has two brothers, Andrew and Hudson and one sister, Margo…Undecided in his major, but his career ambition is a scientific theorist…Likes to read, blog and listen to music in his free time…Chose Arizona over Indiana, Auburn, NC State, University of Virginia and Tennessee because “it had the perfect balance for pursuing academic and athletic potential”.
