Arizona Set to Host 40th Arizona Intercollegiate at Sewailo

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona Wildcats men's golf program will open its spring schedule Monday when it hosts the 40th annual Arizona Intercollegiate at its home course of Sewailo Golf Club.

The Wildcats enter the tournament as the back-to-back defending champions. Arizona won the tournament at 10-over par in 2018 and then posted a tournament record 37-under par in 2019 to capture the championship by three strokes over Arizona State.

The 14-team field is headlined by the host team and also includes Arkansas Little Rock, Baylor, Iowa State, Long Beach State, Louisiana-Monroe, Mississippi State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, St. Mary's, UTEP, UTSA, Washington and Washington State.

"The Arizona Intercollegiate has so much history and we are very proud to host the first event of the spring season in Tucson," head coach Jim Anderson said. "Our team played well last fall and we have a very experienced lineup.  Our upperclassmen have won this event the past two years and we believe in our preparation.  We also know that everything is earned in golf and our team has prepared very well for this opportunity.  Sewailo is a great home and amazing host site for the 40th Arizona Intercollegiate.  We have many supporters and fans joining us this week to see the Wildcats at home and our Seniors, who have given our program so much, have a chance to make history with one another."

Arizona's lineup will consist of seniors David Laskin, Brad Reeves and Briggs Duce, junior Trevor Werbylo and freshman Chase Sienkiewicz. Drake Mendenhall, Santeri Lehesmaa, Aidric Chan and Hayden Sayre will play as individuals.

Sewailo will play as a par 71, spanning 7,292 yards.

At last year's tournament, Werbylo was the high finisher for the Wildcats. Werbylo finished T2 at -11, shooting a 65 in the final round. Laskin and Reeves both finished in the top 20 and Duce finished tied for 25th. Reeves and Duce each shot a 65 in the final round last year.

The Arizona Intercollegiate is open to the public with free admission. Live stats can be followed here.
