Tucson, ARIZ. -- The Arizona Wildcats are back at Bear Down Beach to host the Arizona Invitational after going 4-0 in last weekend's Cactus Classic. Arizona's second tournament of the 2020 season will begin on Feb. 28 at 12 pm MST against Colorado Mesa University and continue with a match against Washington at 4 pm MST. They will close out the weekend on Feb 29 going head to head with Stephen F. Austin at 12 pm MST. 

Serving Up the Facts
The Cats went 4-0 in their first weekend of tournament play this season, taking down Boise State and San Francisco in a 5-0 sweep. They defeated Missouri St. twice, going 3-2 in the first match and 4-1 in the second. The undefeated weekend bumped Arizona into 13th place in the AVCA polls after starting out in 15th.

SandCats Standouts
Pairs Natalie Anselmo & Carly Lowry and Sarah Blacker & Alex Parkhurst, went 4-0 this weekend. Anslemo and Lowry, both Seniors, won all matches in only two sets, never having to move onto the third. Parkhurst and Blacker, the youngest pair of the weekend with Parkhurst being a Freshman and Blacker being a Sophomore, made it to three once but fought hard to win that court for Arizona. 

Setting Up the Weekend
Arizona goes into the tournament having a new opponent in Stephen F Austin, having never met the school on the beach before. The Cats, however, have an advantage over their other two opponents for the weekend. Arizona has a record of 2-0 against CMU with their last match being a sweep over the Mavericks in 2019. The Wildcats hold a 4-1 lead over Washington, with their last face off resulting in a 4-1 victory for the Cats.
