CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico --  The Arizona Wildcats, ranked No. 14 in the latest Golfstat National rankings, will travel for the second straight tournament this weekend to participate in the 10th Annual Cabo Collegiate at the Cove Club Golf Course at Cabo del Sol.

The Wildcats are participating in the event just the second time. Arizona competed in the Cabo Collegiate last year for the first time and fought to a fifth-place finish at +10. Junior Trevor Werbylo finished in fourth place at -8 as a sophomore to lead the Wildcats.

The tournament features a strong field, including six Top 25 programs including Texas A&M, Arizona State, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma State, and of course, Arizona. Fourteen of the 15 programs are ranked inside Golfstat's Top 50 national rankings.

"This tournament is one of the majors of college golf," Coach Jim Anderson said. "The host and golf course, combined with the international element , makes the Cabo Collegiate an event every top program wants to compete in. We are very much looking forward to taking his team to a familiar climate and course design. The course is new for this year so we will game plan accordingly and I know our team is ready for a fun week together."

The Wildcats are coming off a sixth-place finish at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii. Werbylo led the way for the Cats, shooting -3, and finishing tied for 12th. Senior Briggs Duce also had a strong tournament at -2, finishing tied for 15th.

Duce has been at or under par for 10 of his last 11 rounds and has a career-best scoring average of 70.39, which is the second-best mark on the team behind Werbylo.

Filling out Arizona's five-person squad this weekend are seniors David Laskin and Brad Reeves and freshman Aidric Chan. Laskin will be playing in his 45th tournament as a Wildcat, while Reeves will participate in tournament No. 40.

Laskin has a stroke average of 70.78 this season and a career mark of 72.54. Reeves has nine rounds of par or better this year and has a scoring average of 72.11. Chan has been at or under par in five of his 12 rounds this season. He had a strong final day in Hawaii, shooting even par. He improved his score by two shots in each round in Hawaii.

The Wildcats will tee off at 9 a.m., Sunday, playing 18 holes each on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Sunday and Monday are 9 a.m., shotgun starts. The final round will begin at 8 a.m.
