Four Wildcats Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track and Field will be sending four athletes to Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 13 for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Carlos Villarreal will compete in the mile run for the third consecutive year. Villarreal clocked a PR time of 3:56.77 at the NYRR Millrose Games earlier this season. He will head to Albuquerque ranked third in the NCAA.

With a clearance of 2.23m (7-3.75) in the high jump, Justice Summerset will also be making the trip for the Wildcats. Summerset cleared his qualifying mark at the Texas Tech Shootout on February 14 where he won the high jump competition.

Alexa Porpaczy joins Summerset in the high jump with a mark of 1.80m (5-10.75). Porpaczy jumped her PR at the Texas Tech Invitational on January 31. More recently, Porpaczy jumped 1.79m (5-10.5) to grab the MPSF High Jump title.

After breaking the school weight throw record, Israel Oloyede sits at eighth in the NCAA with a throw of 22.34m (73-3.5). Over the course of the 2020 season, Oloyede has won three weight throw competitions and placed second at the MPSF Championships with a mark of 22.02m (72-3).

These four Wildcats will begin competition in Albuquerque on March 13.
