TUCSON, Ariz. --Â A five-run seventh inning lifted the Arizona Wildcats (10-5) to a 10-6 victory in the rubber match over the Houston Cougars (5-9) on Sunday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field.Â
With the win, Arizona improves to 10-5 on the season with series wins in each of their first three-game sets.
Starting pitcher
Chandler Murphy, a freshman right-hander, made his fourth start of the year and worked 5.0 innings with just two earned runs allowed. He struck out three and allowed five hits while not factoring into the decision.Â
Arizona's bullpen continued their hot start to the season, covering the final 4.0 frames and allowing just two earned runs on two hits while striking out five.
First baseman
Branden Boissiere led the charge for the Wildcats on offense, picking up three RBI on three hits and scoring a pair of runs. He now sports a team-long eight-game hit streak and is third on the squad with 13 RBI this year.Â
The back-and-forth Sunday affair featured three ties and one lead change before the Wildcats posted their five spot in the bottom of the seventh to pull out in front for good.
