LA QUINTA, Calif. – Behind a blistering round of 67 from senior Trevor Werbylo and a second consecutive solid round from sophomore Chase Sienkiewicz, Arizona Men's Golf climbed the standings into a tie for second on the second day of The Prestige event in California. The Wildcats' strong positioning on the team leaderboard is matched by Werbylo and Sienkiewicz solidifying their positions in the top five of the individual leaderboards.

"We had a great day as a team as the conditions in the afternoon were challenging with the wind picking up on the finishing nine, which has played more difficult this week," said head coach Jim Anderson. "We had a good start, so playing well down the stretch put us right where we need to be tomorrow. Trevor carried us with a huge round as the anchor and having Chase back up his great play yesterday was also outstanding. Having played the afternoon today, I think we are ready to put ourselves in a similar position tomorrow. We can't wait to compete, but it will be important to stay patient throughout the round."
 
Werbylo's 4-under par performance on Tuesday matched the lowest score of the day, giving the Tucson native an improvement of six strokes from his opening round of 73. His second-round score of 67 was highlighted by carding four birdies in his first eight holes of the day. Werbylo finished round two with the second lowest score among the field on the courses' longest holes, which helped propel Arizona to end the second day of action as the lowest scoring team on par-5 holes.

Tied with Werbylo for fifth is Sienkiewicz who shot 1-over par in round two after scoring his career best round of 68 on the first day. His three birdies on the round all came on par-4's as he and Werbylo sit four strokes behind leader Ludvig Aberg of Texas Tech.

Brad Reeves was the only other Wildcat to shoot below par on Tuesday with his 1-under 70. Reeves sits in a Top-20 position entering the third and final day of action.

The Wildcats will look to erase Pepperdine's three-stroke lead at the top of the leaderboard on Wednesday, which would give the program its second consecutive team victory in as many events.
