TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track and Field is set to compete in the first ever West Coast Classic, a meet co-hosted by Arizona and Oregon, on Saturday. The jumps and sprints crew will compete in Tucson at Roy P. Drachman Stadium while the throwers and distance runners will travel to Eugene, Ore.

Arizona will host a limited number of family members of both Arizona student-athletes as well as visiting teams. However, the meet will not be open to the general public.

The meet will kick off at 12:30 p.m. MST in Eugene, beginning with the men's hammer throw. Israel Oloyede, Jordan Geist and Jakob Chamberlin will throw in the event. Oloyede is coming off of a school record-breaking performance at the Jim Click Shootout where he threw for 72.91m (239-2), giving him the second-best mark in the NCAA while Geist is ranked 11th.

In Tucson, competition will kick off at 3:00 p.m. with the women's long jump. Running events will follow at 6:00 p.m. with the 100m hurdles. Live results for the Tucson events can be found on Finished Results while Oregon's will be posted on Athletic Timing. 

Last weekend, the Cats had an impressive showing at the Jim Click Shootout. Along with Oloyede, freshman Johnnie Blockburger also set a new school record, clocking 44.71 in the 400m. His time ranks second in the NCAA. Samantha Noennig threw the NCAA-leading shot put mark with a throw of 18.14m (59-6.25) and Shannon Meisberger's PR time of 56.61 in the 400m hurdles is listed third in the country.
